1. The topic must be related to the field of ophthalmology.
2. Submissions must be previously unpublished material, and may not be committed for publication elsewhere.
3. Authors of papers accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting are required to submit three hard copies and one copy on disk of their final manuscript before the meeting to the headquarters office. Final manuscripts will be critiqued immediately after the Annual Meeting. A deadline will be confirmed in each acceptance letter.
4. Manuscripts will then be submitted to the editor of INSIGHT - The Journal of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses, for consideration for publication in an issue the following year. If a paper is not accepted for publication, the author is notified in writing and may seek publication elsewhere.
5. Papers may be submitted by one or more authors. At least one author must be a member of ASORN and a nurse or other ophthalmic health professional working in ophthalmology or a related area.
6. Papers will be presented by one speaker, no exceptions. Free paper presenters must be registered for the ASORN Annual Meeting.
7. Papers should not mention specific names of hospitals, employers, products or people.
8. The oral presentation should be six to eight (6-8) minutes in length. Eight minutes is the maximum.
9. The following materials should be received at the ASORN office by July 1.
- Title of free paper
- Abstract of topic (50 words minimum, 200 words maximum – do not include names of institutions, employers, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 learning objectives (i.e. what will the participant know or be able to do after hearing the presentation. Discuss…identify…describe, etc.)
- Biographical data form (M.S. Word document) (Also available as pdf document, use only if unable to use the Word file)
- Financial disclosure form
- Letter of transmittal
10. All information must be typed.
11. Final manuscripts not received prior to Annual Meeting may result in the author being disqualified from presenting the paper.
