Cancer and Eye Donation

Cancer is a devastating disease to the patient and their families. Some of the families that we have been involved over the years who have lost a loved one due to cancer have found peace in knowing that something good has come from such a tragedy.

Eye donation is an option for most cancer patients. There are a few select types of cancer, such as leukemia and Hodgkin's Disease, in which eyes cannot be used for transplant but most other forms of cancer can. The ILEB coordinators will work closely with hospital staff and family to determine if donation can occur.

If you would like to learn more about cancer and eye donation, please contact the Iowa Lions Eye Bank at 1-866-HELP-SEE (Toll free in Iowa).
