Dr. Wallace L.M. Alward will be the chair of the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) in 2012. Dr. Alward is the Frederick C. Blodi Chair in Ophthalmology, the vice-chair of the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and head of the Iowa Glaucoma Center at the University of Iowa. Alward has served on the ABO board of directors since 2006 and was vice chair in 2011. His term on the board of directors expires in 2014.
The American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, not-for-profit organization and the nation’s oldest medical specialty certifying board, founded in 1916.
