This
magazine cover was prepared by the staff of EyeNet magazine
(Patty Ames, Chris McDonagh in San Francisco and Carey Ballard in Portland,
Oregon) as a tribute to Thomas A. Weingeist, PhD, MD, as he resigned
the position of Medical Editor of EyeNet magazine.
Dr. Weingeist has been the medical editor of Eyenet since
its inception in 1997.
Effective January 1, 2002, Richard Mills, MD, a past president of the AAO and current Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington will be taking over as Medical Editor.
Dr. Weingeist is Professor of Ophthalmology and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Iowa. He was installed as the President of the American Academy of Ophthalmology at the Annual Meeting in New Orleans in November 2001.
