UI Glaucoma Research Recognition

The International Glaucoma Review (IGR), a publication of the Association of International Glaucoma Societies, has recognized several papers from the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Named in the Top-Ten nominees for the IGR award by all international glaucoma societies:

The Collaborative Normal-Tension Glaucoma Study Group (of which Dr. Lee Alward is a co-author): Risk Factors for progression of visual field abnormalities in normal tension glacuaom. American Journal of Ophthalmology 2001; 131: 699-708. This paper won IGR Special Recognition.

Also among the top ten was Fingert JH, Clark AF, Craig JE, Alward WLM, Snibson GR, McLaughlin M, Tuttle L, Mackey DA, Sheffield VC, Stone EM: Evaluation of the myocilin (MYOC) glaucoma gene in monkey and human steroid-induced ocular hypertension. Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science 2001; 145-152.

In the Top Ten of the American Glaucoma Society Meeting, February 28-March 3, 2002, San Juan, Puerto Rico, was the paper by Graul TM, Kwon YH, Zimmerman B, Kim CS, Sheffield VS, Stone EM, and Alward WLM: A case-control comparison of the clinical characteristics of glaucoma and ocular hypertensive patients with and without the myocilin GLN368stop mutation.
