Research to Prevent Blindness renews support to UI
Research to Prevent Blindness has awarded a $100,000 grant to support University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences research aimed at understanding, preventing and treating blinding diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.
A recent UI research project that involved Research to Prevent Blindness funding led to the discovery of a new, rare inherited retinal disease and could help increase understanding of more common retinal conditions.
To date, Research to Prevent Blindness has awarded the department grants totaling more than $3.5 million in research support to UI investigators.
