Intended Audience and Purpose: This conference will provide the optometric practitioner with information that will assist him/her with diagnostic dilemmas and patient questions that are encountered daily. This activity will also bring the optometric practitioner up-to-date on what is felt to be the standard of ophthalmic care in Iowa.
Educational Objectives: Upon completion of the program, participants should be able to:
- Discuss management of age-related macular degeneration.
- Explain expected treatment options with stem cells for inherited eye diseases.
- Identify ophthalmic conditions requiring ultrasound assessment.
- Discuss the assessment and management of ocular tumors.
- Recognize the differences between ptosis, brow ptosis and dermatochalasis.
- Explain the management of amblyopia.
- Identify current molecular testing options for inherited eye diseases.
- Discuss how to recognize and treat ocular surface disease.
- Explain the differential evaluation of a pale optic nerve.
- Discuss the benefits of treating glaucoma with travoprost.
