On 19-21 September 1996 the Iowa Eye Association held an educational program dedicated to the past residents and fellows of the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Iowa. Nearly 150 physicians returned to Iowa City to hear presentations on all aspects of ophthalmology and to visit with old friends, mentors, and colleagues.

For many years, Stan and Delores Thompson have hosted a "Corn Party" held at their farm near Cosgrove, Iowa. The feast of freshly picked corn and a pot-luck dinner has grown to be a summertime tradition which represents the sense of "family" that is characteristic of our department.

This photograph of past and present faculty, students, and employees with their families was taken at the 1996 Corn Party which was scheduled to coincide with the Iowa Eye Association meeting.
