Corneal Satellite Infiltrates

Contributor: T.J. Clark, MD

Photographer: Toni Venckus, CRA

These photographs show satellite infiltrates associated with a central corneal ulcer secondary to culture-negative, Gram-negative rod bacterial keratitis. While historically associated with fungal keratitis, satellite infiltrates have been reported in cases of Acanthamoeba, nontuberculous mycobacterium, and bacterial (including Pseudomonas) keratitis.
