Terson syndrome is the presence of vitreous or sub-internal limiting membrane (ILM) hemorrhage after acute intracranial hemorrhage. It has been hypothesized that the bleeding results when a sudden rise in intracranial pressure causes rupture of retinal and peripapillary vessels.
