April 18-24 is Administrative Professionals Week
Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has honored office workers by sponsoring Administrative Professionals Week (formerly Professional Secretaries Week). Today, it is one of the largest workplace observances outside of employee birthdays and major holidays.
Professional Secretaries Week and Professional Secretaries Day became Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day in 2000 to keep pace with changing job titles and expanding responsibilities of today’s administrative workforce.
Today, there are more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants working in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, and 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles. More than 475,000 administrative professionals are employed in Canada. Millions more administrative professionals work in offices all over the world.
National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is April 18-24
Since the Update accidentally reported ths a week too early, this story is being repeated. Don't forget that next week is National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (NMLPW), an annual celebration of the medical laboratory professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in every aspect of health care.
Since laboratorians often work behind the scenes, few people know much about the critical testing they perform every day. The week of April 18th is a great time to learn about the lab professionals. Find out about the F.C. Blodi Eye Pathology Laboratory at http://webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu/dept/pathlab
