The COMS Grading Scheme: Graded Features

Retinal detachment involving the fovea

Retinal elevation that involves the center of the FAZ can be seen from rhegmatogenous and exudative causes.  Retinal elevation is determined based on surrogate markers when stereoscopic images are not available.  The retina in an area of detachment is often opaque and visualization of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and choroidal details is obscured.  The detachment is often contiguous with the tumor.
