Alumni News

Dr. Brad Katz (Resident, 1998) received word in September that his K23 grant (Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award) has been funded. He is looking for the genes for optic nerve drusen. Dr. Katz is with the John A. Moran Eye Center, University of Utah School of Medicine.

Dr. Nicole Mulder (Resident, 1998), her husband, Brad, and 2-year-old son, Michael, announce the birth of George Cleyton Mulder on May 4, 2002. Dr. Mulder is in private practice in San Diego, California.

Deaths

John W. Dickerson, MD, from Norfolk, Virginia, died on March 18, 2001 from cancer. Dr. Dickerson graduated from the ophthalmology residency program in 1963.

Phillips Thygeson, MD, died at his home in Los Altos, California on July 27. He was 99 years old. Dr. Thygeson was a faculty member from 1932 to 1936.
