First Call for Papers – Nara, Japan

It is a pleasure to write to you regarding the 18th International Visual Field and Imaging Symposium which will be held in Nara, Japan from the 21st to 24th May 2008.  Dr Chota Matsumoto is our local host and he is planning a warm welcome to IPS delegates and their guests.

This is the first call for papers and you will find an abstract submission form and instructions at the conference web site:   http://www.congre.co.jp/ips2008/index.html.

As in previous years, communications regarding all relevant topics are welcome.  The deadline for submission of abstracts is 20th December 2007. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed and those accepted for presentation, oral or poster, will be placed on the conference web site Authors will be notified of the Programme Committee’s decisions on the 1st February 2008.  When you submit an abstract application, please check that your membership dues are up-to-date.  Using the new PayPal system (see IPS website), it is easy to pay on-line and we would encourage you all to ensure you are paid through 2008, the Symposium year.

Details about the social programme, accommodation and travel to Nara can also be found at the conference web site (http://www.congre.co.jp/ips2008/index.html) . This will be updated when new information becomes available.

Our invited guest speaker at next year’s Symposium is Prof Dr Fritz Dannheim whose presentation is titled ‘The Evolution of the Optic Disc Analysis: Past, Presence and Outlook’.

Those making an application that relates to the structure function relationship are invited to apply for the Heidelberg Award. To be eligible for the award the applicant must be <40years of age and be the presenting author.  Further details can be obtained from the IPS Secretary.

Finally, a small number of travel grants will again be available.  Applicants for travel grants must be either graduate students or post-graduates who have not previously been in receipt of a grant from the IPS.  A separate application form will be required.  All applicants should again contact myself for further information.

With kind regards,

David Henson

IPS Secretary
