Folding IOL In The Eye

Contributor: Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD; Rob Dinn, MD

This video demonstrates how to fold and remove a 3 piece acrylic IOL from the anterior chamber. The single piece acrylic and Alcon acrylic IOL can easily be folded in the anterior chamber and removed. The thicker AMO acrylic and silicon intraocular lenses are harder to refold, and they usually need to be cut or the incision needs to be increased to 6 mm to remove it unfolded in one piece.
