Utratta vs. Iris Hook

Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD

I generally like to use the diamond configuration with iris hooks where one of the hooks is subincisional. This keeps the iris well out of the way of the main incision virtually ensuring no iris prolapse. One of the downsides to this configuration is that the instruments can catch on the subincisional iris hook. Here the hook and the Utratta forceps meet.
