Acute meibomianitis marginalis

The closer the meibomian gland involvement is to the lid margin, the greater the surgeon's desire to avoid surgery. Hopefully this attack of an internal sty will abate under medical treatment. In operating near the lid margin, there is an increased potential for cosmetic blemishes, e.g. notching and trichiasis.
