*Dr. Caccamise has very generously shared his images of patients taken while operating during the "eye season" in rural India as well as those from his private practice during the 1960's and 1970's. Many of his images are significant for their historical perspective and for techniques and conditions seen in settings in undeveloped areas.

uveitis with iris atrophy and fixed, dilated pupil

The photo was taken when the eye was not under the influence of mydriatics/cycloplegics. The patient is a 32-year-old Caucasian female. As a result of several attacks of uveitis, iris atrophy with a fixed, dilated pupil has resulted. The iris atrophy is best seen with the slit-lamp and transillumination. In the photo with keen observation, fine pigment can be detected on the surface of the anterior lens capsule.
