Weingeist Honored in Achievement Award Ceremony
Dr. Thomas A. Weingeist was given the UI Catalyst Award for an Individual on April 21st at the 2010 Catalyst Awards and Alliant Energy/Erroll B. Davis Jr. Achievement Awards Ceremony. Catalyst Awards are a tribute to the diversity efforts at The University of Iowa. The awards honor faculty, staff, programs, departments, students and student organizations whose outstanding and innovative contributions enhance the University's commitment to achieving excellence through diversity.
The ceremony Program stated: "As chair of the Department of Ophthalmology for more than 20 years, Dr. Weingeist's commitment to diversity transformed the Department, with a 2.5-fold increase in minority representation and a 6-fold increase in the representation of women. His nominators applauded Dr. Weingeist for his vision on inclusion, persistence, and continued vigilance, as evidenced by the recruitment and placement of the Department's diverse group of residents."

Eye Bank Participating in Run/Walk
On May 1, 2010, staff members from the Iowa Lions Eye Bank will be participating in the 2010 C.A.R.E. 5K & 10K Run and Walk. This fundraiser benefits My Angel Foundation's efforts to create awareness about the importance and facts of organ, eye and tissue donation. Riverbank Art Fair This Weekend, April 24 & 25, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Riverbank Art Fair is an annual outdoor art exhibition and sale featuring artists from all over the Midwest. Artists compete to exhibit and sell their fine art work in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, jewelry, fiber, metal, needlework, and much more. Admission to the show is free to the public. Food and entertainment provided. The show will continue rain or shine. Outdoor location, between Hancher Auditorium and E.C.
