Upside down IOLs

Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD; Yian Jin-Jones, MD

Here we show a few examples of upside down IOLs. First a 3 piece about to go in upside down which is rotated in time to keep right side up.

The final case in the series is the bad day. After struggling with a case with loose zonules the lens is loaded upside down and we decided to leave the IOL upside down as it seemed safer than rotating the IOL with the loose zonles and potentially creating a worse situation.
