Capsule Capture

Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD

In this video, the original plan was to use McCannel sutures to center and fix this decentered Intraocular Lens (IOL) in the sulcus. However we discovered that the remnant of capsule had a nicely centered oval openning which was perfect to capture the optic of the IOL. The haptics were left in the sulcus. The IOL was rotated such that the widest part of the oval capsule remnant was at the area of the IOL which joins the haptic. The IOL stayed solidly centered.
