*Dr. Caccamise has very generously shared his images of patients taken while operating during the "eye season" in rural India as well as those from his private practice during the 1960's and 1970's. Many of his images are significant for their historical perspective and for techniques and conditions seen in settings in undeveloped areas.

post-endophthalmitis membrane with anterior uveitis, seclusio pupillae, and iris atrophy - all following uncomplicated intracapsular cataract operation.

Fortunately, this case of endophthalmitis subsided without going into panophthalmitis. However, it left a substantial membrane over the pupil. In 1965, no vitrectomy equipment was available to handle this problem. The standard approach to the average membrane was discission/ needling. As a result of the postop endophthalmitis and anterior uveitis, a significant iris atrophy involving the pars ciliaris of the pupil developed. There is also a seclusio pupillae that resulted from posterior synechiae produced by the anterior uveitis.
