Secondary Transscleral-Sutured Intraocular Lens Using Gore-Tex Suture and McCannel Suture Iris Repair

Contributor: Jesse Vislisel, MD and Mark Greiner, MD

This patient previously underwent ruptured globe repair, pars plana vitrectomy, and lensectomy for penetrating ocular trauma. Here he undergoes secondary placement of a transscleral-sutured Alcon CZ70BD posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL) using Gore-Tex suture and repair of his traumatic iris defect using the McCannel technique. Gore-Tex suture has excellent longevity and does not require the creation of scleral flaps.
